Fire Detection Systems

The design, installation and maintenance of our fire detection systems all comply to BS5839 and EN requirements. Whatever the size and complexity of the fire detection system, either networked or a stand alone, small, large, single or multiple sites, Protek Fire & Security has the required expertise.

When a fire alarm installation is required the customer or organisation is often faced with a huge amount of decisions. For example, which of the British Standards are necessary? Is it BS5839 Part 1 or Part 6? What category of system is called for? M,P or L? Type 1, 2 or 3 or grade A-F? Is the system to alert the fire brigade and if so by what method? Protek Fire & Security can assist with all of these questions and is happy to liaise with the local fire officer and insurers as necessary.

Automatic fire alarms (AFAs) are mainly used in buildings to provide an early warning of a possible fire. They give the signal to evacuate the building immediately. As soon as an AFA sounds, your fire management procedures, based upon your Fire Risk Assessment, should be put in place to locate and find out the reason for the fire alarm sounding. We at Protek are more than happy to offer training to the responsible individuals in the use of their detection systems and in the weekly and monthly testing that is necessary.

We at Protek Fire and Security can also help you with Gas detection. Carbon monoxide is a killer and while simple detection aids are cheap to buy and install, not doing anything to protect you and your family is senseless. The www.carbonmonoxidekills.com website is an excellent source of further information.
